Thanks to the Quarter Life Crisis, I used to celebrate the weekend with Tequila and Nando’s.
Now, at 31, I spend Saturdays shopping for vegetables and enjoying (enjoying?!) an early morning swim.
Who even am I?
Apparently this is what the other side of 29 feels like and, clearly, I’m embracing grown-up-ness for all it has to offer.
If, unlike me, you’re still in your early 20s, here’s some things you can look forward to when you get to the other side:
• Discovering that shoes from M&S are the loveliest pieces of comfort your feet will ever encounter
• Knees cracking whenever you slut drop (and by ‘slut drop’ I mean ‘bend down to put the washing on’ – eco cycle, obvs)
• Saying sentences like “I can’t wait for the damp proofing to be done in the cellar” and “let me check my diary”
Bars are too loud. Plans have to be made three months in advance. Water is your best friend. The highlight of the weekend is getting the ironing done. Everyone you went to school with is having children. AND I still don’t know how to use Tik Tok.
I’m not the only one getting in on the action – my husband winds down before bed with a nice Sudoku puzzle.
While post-30 seems boring and scary at first, it does feel good to be more settled.
Now if you don’t mind me, I’m off out (and by ‘out’ I mean I ‘hope to be back by 10pm’).

How terrific. You’re discovering, one by one, the delights of this next phase of life. Who knew?
